(Washington, D.C.): This Wednesday, September 30th, Americans United for Life (AUL) will be hosting a movement-wide rally celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment, “America’s Most Popular Pro-Life Protection.”
Championed by former Illinois Congressman and AUL Honorary Chairman Henry Hyde, the Hyde Amendment continues to prevent American taxpayer dollars from directly funding abortion. The Hyde Amendment has saved nearly 2.7 million lives to date, according to a recent estimate by the Charlotte Lozier Institute.
AUL will be joined by major movement partners in celebrating this historic anniversary and urging its continued defense, including Students for Life Action, National Right to Life, March for Life, Advancing American Freedom, Concerned Women for America, Family Policy Alliance, and The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
Sen. Steve Daines (MT-1) will be delivering remarks, and several other members of the Senate have been invited to celebrate and reflect on the continued legacy of Congressman Hyde.
John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life, stated, “The Hyde Amendment has served as a central part of federal pro-life strategy for half a century, and must be defended against fierce attacks post-Dobbs. Americans should never be forced to fund abortion against their conscience, and we must continue to defend this historically popular protection for another 50 years and beyond.”
